In April 2001, Alex Beauchamp left a successful corporate position to pursue a freelance creative career. What seemed impossible became a reality as documented on the Girl at Play Blog – the first dedicated artist blog on the Internet. Filled with straight talk, light-hearted humor and a wealth of practical advice, the blog attracted a loyal following of over 100,000 visitors each day, constant media attention and opportunities that allowed Alex to cultivate a successful creative career.
Since then, her artwork and photography has graced book covers and hung in galleries from London to Vancouver. Her travel writings have appeared in print publications worldwide and she's won several awards including two SXSW Nominations for community and blogging. Through hard work and innovation, Alex has earned a reputation for excellence and has become a leader in creating online communities and brand development. Because of this, in 2004 Hollywood came knocking on her door and with a move to Santa Monica CA, she began working in the entertainment industry. Her first stop? Working for one of Hollywood's top producers in film development. She has since worked as a new media consultant for several top agencies as well as in production for A-List producers, directors and writers.
In 2005 Alex combined her 20 years in technology, 10 years of high-profile blogging, and 5 years experience in entertainment to transform Girl at Play into a company that passionately works and consults on projects from new media to film to art. By linking together technology, people, business and creativity, Alex Beauchamp has shaped a unique, diverse, and successful career that doesn't show any signs of slowing down. |
